Gender Guesser Script: http://www.hackerfactor.com/GenderGuesser.php
This script can guess gender from writing sample.
It's not 100% accurate but it predicted me as a female!!
It's so weird that how much information we reveal about ourselves without even thinking about it.
I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit-hole — and yet — and yet — it's rather curious, you know, this sort of life!

Project Implicit
Project Implicit (https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/) is about our conscious and unconscious preferences and biases. For example, most people connote blondes with "dumbness", and tall and handsome with "intelligence"; we don't do it consciously, or we don't want other people to know about our true biases. But even when we try to hide our preferences, we end up revealing them through our attitudes or actions.
The Implicit project tries to measure these unconscious biases. In the test you have to categorize words into different groups, generally two. For example, the gender-science test will ask you to categorize different words into two groups: male/science and female/arts. Then it will ask to categorize words into other two groups: female/science and male/arts. If you are biased about man and science, then you'll take more time to classify science words as female/science than to classify them as male/science. The test will measure your response time and figure out your true preference.
I read about this project in "Blink." Then I took several tests and got very weird results. Like, I don't have any preference for female and science over male and science. But my test suggested that I do. I took another test about preferring self over others, whose result was contradictory as well. I feeling a little confused about myself now.
But it was fun!

try this trick & spin it ... ... ...
your head will collapse
if theres nothing in it
you will ask yourself where is my mind?

Free Rice: Web game provides rice for hunger

WFP food aid being distributed in Somalia - 26/09/2007
The WFP says hunger is the world's number one emergency
An internet word game has generated enough rice to feed 50,000 people for one day, the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) has said.
The game, FreeRice, tests the vocabulary of participants. For each click on a correct answer, the website donates money to buy 10 grains of rice.
Companies advertising on the website provide the money to the WFP to buy and distribute the rice.
FreeRice went online in early October and has now raised 1bn grains of rice.
That is enough rice to feed 50,000 people for one day, the WFP said on Friday.

Why we hiccup
A little history:
the day i posted this, ridwan was hiccup-ing :D... as the only thing i used to do in office was chatting with ridwan and/or shimi, i felt the strong urge to know why we hiccup :D.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this interesting post in bbc news
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scientists believe they may be able to explain why people hiccup.
Researchers in France have suggested that it may be linked to evolution and the fact that our ancient ancestors lived in the sea.
They believe it may be a throwback to a time when our ancestors had gills to help them breathe.
The reason why humans hiccup has baffled scientists for hundreds of years, not least because it does not seem to serve any useful purpose.
Sudden contractions
Hiccups are sudden contractions of the muscles used for breathing in.
Just after the muscles start to move, the glottis shuts off the windpipe to produce the characteristic "hic" sound.

Ultrasound scans show that two-month-old babies hiccup in the womb, before any breathing movements appear.
One theory is that the contractions prepare the unborn baby's respiratory muscles for breathing after birth.
Another is that they stop amniotic fluid entering the lungs.
But neither of these ideas fully stands up.
For instance, if hiccups were supposed to keep fluid out of the lungs, it would make more sense for them to involve a cough-like response, not a breath inwards.
This latest theory, originally published in the journal BioEssays and reported in New Scientist magazine, says the key to hiccupping lies in a group of animals for whom combining closure of the glottis and contraction of the "breathing in" muscles does serve a clear purpose.
They are the primitive air breathers, such as lungfish, gar and many amphibians that still possess gills.
These creatures push water across their gills by squeezing their mouth cavity while closing the glottis to stop water getting into their lungs.
A group of scientists led by Christian Straus, at Pitie-Saltpetriere Hospital in Paris believes the brain circuitry controlling gill ventilation has persisted into modern mammals, including humans.
The researchers point to many similarities between hiccupping and gill ventilation in animals such as tadpoles.
Both are inhibited when the lungs are inflated, for example, and by high carbon dioxide levels in air or water.
There must, however, be a reason why hiccupping persists 370 million years after animals started hauling themselves onto the land.
Suckling
Straus and his colleagues suspect the habit has been adapted to a new use - helping mammals learn to suckle.
The sequence of movements during suckling is similar to hiccupping, with the glottis closing to prevent milk entering the lungs.
Allan Pack, an expert in respiratory neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania, said it was a plausible theory.
But he added: "It's going to be very tough to prove."
The real test will be to look at the specific areas of the brain that control hiccups and suckling, says Straus.
If the theory is correct, most of the nerves cells that are active during suckling should also fire during hiccupping.
---------------------------------------------------------------
And u know, there is a hiccup lovers site :|:|:| , full of memorable (!?!?) hiccup stories
And a band called Hiccup THe Band

And ...... last but not the least, there is a patented device, called "Hic-Cup" for curing hiccups :D

check ur reaction
check ur reaction here
all u have to do is to dart the fleeing sheeps among a flock & ur reaction will be calculated according to how fast u can dart them.
& then u'll be rated as any of the 5 category- a (forgot the adjective) chitah, rocketing rabbit, bobbing bobcat, ambling armadillo and sluggish snail.
i was the bobbing bobcat ...:)
enjoy.

Eyeing the eyes
For the last few days, I’ve been trying to write this story but never find that MOOD to finish & publish it.
It's about a birthday gift from my brother .
If you are the youngest one in the family, you must have the similar story about how everyone else in the family keep treating you as a drooling baby and sometimes even you forget actually how old you are. That's exactly the case with me. I think even in my 50th birthday my mom ( if alive) will still keep fussing about my street-crossing ability (actually I haven’t able to learn that one yet ,:$ .... but, heeeeeee, I can do other things to prove myself adult, huh)
Ok, enough history for today.
My brother's gift was a book, named “Body language” (:P), a footnote on the cover says “know the nature of a person by his expression". My brother chose this because, according to him, I’m still too naïve to see through one’s appearance.
The book is quite an intriguing one, with lots of eye-catching sketches of eyes & lips and other visible body parts, including, of course, what message that part conveys about you.
Today is the “eye –day", lets eye those eyes.

1. if you have this type of eye, you must be
a. very practical,
b. will acquire success in business or politics.
c. You are incredible in love & other intimate relations as you don’t treat others as a good businessman but as a lover :-)

2. You are an artist who is also sincere and credible ( but not in love I guess :-P).

3. if you are a male with this type of eyes, then you are incessantly getting darted by aphrodite’s son (he he :) ) (don’t even dare to give me a black eye, its what the book says ).
But if you are a female …..there is hope :) ….u MAY prove urself as a good life-partner.

4. People having smaller eye-balls than the contour are found to be proudy and wicked .They will do all that caused pain to others.

& i just can't help uploading this pic ....these are shaila's eyes.
those who don't know shaila ,she is my classmate & an almost saint like person (& according to my mom ,a perfect example of a good girl),or i s s h e ?(suspicious music is badly needed here)

5. you are experienced and highly ambitious and u’ll have a life full of true experiences if you are not so yet.

6.women with this eye are chaste but jealous …….but men with this type of eyes are honest ,genuine ,industrious.

7. you are money minded …… you could do everything for money.

8. you favour changes all the time …….anxious, so can’t concentrate on a single topic ……and loooove all the objects of this world except your life partner….[:|]( I was about to say that these are my eyes, but now, you see ...this book has made me reconsider many facts :P)

9.( ahhhhhhh my fingers are making crackling sound ..)...if you are prone to see everything this way, you are the cleverest and apply all possible tricks to solve any issue.

10. you are irrationally emotional.

at last .....about my eyes.....they are really too small to consider ......
